A composite German close helmet

assembled from old parts, circa 1520/70. Heavy skull from circa 1570 forged in one piece with a strong carinated central ridge, six ear holes pierced on each side, a brass plume socket riveted at the nape, and a pivoted visor from circa 1520. Centrally divided sights with a pronounced flange, breathes consisting of both three holes and three slits on either side. Reinforcement straps riveted along the top edge and at the cheeks, with some old defects underneath in places. Spring-loaded latch on the right side of the pivoted bevor. Neck guard of two lames with a turned and cabled edge and a later cloverleaf mark stamped on the side. Height 36 cm.
Good closed helmet from circa 1570 with a non-associated visor from circa 1520.
