A close helmet,

North German or Flemish, circa 1580. Skull made of one piece with a high, roped comb and deepened decorative stripes on either side. Pivoted visor of two pieces with hooklatch on the sides. Sight divided centrally. On the right side of the helmet nine circular arranged openings for breathing. Riveted neck-guard of two lames with turned under and roped lower edge. Repairs to the edge of the front neck-guard and one small repair on the front part of the comb. Surfaces with visible hammer stroke, presumably original blackened. Height 31 cm.
