A narwhal tusk
Greenland, 20th century Unusually large tusk with a beautifully shaped, twisted helical structure. Strong point, beautiful surfaces with light patina. Length 252 cm. The narwhal (Monodon monoceros) belongs to the Monodontidae family. Their impressive tusks were earlier believed to be the horns of the legendary unicorns, and magic powers were attributed to them. Only the tusks of old, male narwhals living in the open sea reach such impressive lengths as the one offered here. CITES certificate available.
