A Chalcidian Helmet
4th/5th century B.C. Bronze. The skull has a central ridge and a pronounced contoured gable on the brow, which ends in a large volute spiral on each side. Tall, sharply offset flaring neck-guard, with a transverse reinforcement swelling and an offset rim. Riveted hinges for the curved cheekpieces (modern attachment). Height 22 cm. With the cheekpieces 26 cm. Weight 670 g. Red-green patina. The entire helmet, with repairs and restorations has been stabilised on the inside with fiberglass and resin. A completely preserved helmet of this type with beautiful patina.
