Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Strathearn (1850 - 1942) - a conductor's baton,
a present from the "Trumpet choir of the Hussar Regiment von Zieten Brandenburgian No. 3" on 12 December 1894. Ebonised wood stick with a silver ferrule bearing the engraved dedication "Presented to His Royal Highness Arthur Prince of Great Britain and Ireland, Supreme Chief of Our Regiment". The tip with a silver portrait bust of GFM Prince Carl of Prussia, Chief of the Regiment until his death in 1885 and Prince Arthur's predecessor. Length 36 cm. In a case with dark blue velvet lining, the lid with the gold inscription "In commemoration from the trumpet choir of the Hussar Regiment von Zieten Brandenburgian No. 3 - Rathenow, 12th December 1894" (all quotes transl.). Prince Arthur, third son of Queen Victoria and uncle of Emperor Wilhelm II, became Chief of the Hussar Regiment No. 3 in 1888 which had been based in Rathenow since 1851.
