A rare late medieval hand-and-a-half sword,

Italy or France, circa 1420 - 1450. Broad, tapered double-edged blade of flattened diamond section. Several pieces broken away from the edge of one side (battle scars?). Tapered quillons with bevelled edges, the ends angled toward the blade. Original grip, leather covering missing. Octagonal, plummet-shaped pommel with a circular brass top rivet. Length 107 cm.
A very similar sword is illustrated in G. Boccia, Armi e Armature Lombarde, no. 224.
