A South German rhinoceros horn snuffbox,

18th century. Oval snuffbox of yellow-brown horn with fluted, slightly tapered sides, and a hinged lid with engraved silver mountings. The lid and bottom stamped with fine portrayals of rhinoceros. Slightly worn, silver base ring missing. Width 8 cm.
Beautiful "Kunstkammer" curiosity of great rarity.
