A baroque playboard,

German, circa 1720. Rectangular body to be unfold in the middle with fine marquetry decorations on all sides made from walnut, mahogany, ebony and fruitwood. Playing surfaces for backgammon, Nine Men's Morris and chess. Realistic depiction of German singing birds and foliage decoration on top. The sides with palmette decorations, on the inside a continuous palmette frieze. A spring-loaded, iron lock on the front side. The edges partially with minor replacements. Dimensions 44 x 44 x 12 cm.
