A gold inlaid Ottoman yataghan,

around 1800. Wootz-Damascus blade, finely cut on the back and with fullers on both sides (somewhat pitted at the point). The forte with panels cut in Arabesque style with foliage décor inlaid in gold. Iron grip strap and ferrule also with gold inlay (worn on the grip frame). Replacement ivory grip scales. Wooden scabbard covered with shagreen leather stitched with brass wire (minimal wormholes). Length 71 cm.
