An Italian storta,

Venice(?), circa 1550. Curved, single-edged blade cut with a full-length fuller below the back edge on one side, inlaid with a mark on one side. Iron hilt including moulded quillon and knuckle-guard. The pommel formed of two parts joined by a brazed seam and retaining its original grip formed of longitudinal straps of horn, the front and back alternately inset with strips of fluted gilt-brass. Length 71 cm.
