A German rondel dagger,
circa 1480. Slender thrusting blade with an asymmetrical cross-section, reinforced point of diamond section, and a grooved back. A mark, "I", inlaid in copper on the ricasso. Both discs are slightly thinner toward the rims, which are engraved with decorative vines. Grip with four flutes and decorative lines. A stylised sun wheel engraved on the flat pommel, rivet with flower shaped, copper overlay. Length 35.5 cm. Provenance: Minervino Collection.
