A North Italian war hammer,

circa 1480. Heavy striking head with a quadrangular spike grooved on top and bottom, and a heavy rectangular hammerhead on the opposite side. Fine copper wire inlays. Octagonal hard wood haft with four side straps of differing lengths. Iron suspension bar on one side. Decorative copper nails. Length 51.5 cm.
