A German Zischägge,

circa 1630. One-piece skull embossed with six ribs radiating from a small ring finial. Riveted pointed peak with turned edge, the underside with the arsenal number "XX". Adjustable nasal bar. Neck-guard of four articulated lames. The exterior profusely etched (later) in the style of the 17th century, the interior with remains of original leather lining, cheek-pieces missing. Height 27 cm.
