Lot Nr.64

A very fine flintlock set consisting of a rifle and a pair of pistols,

Carlsbad(?), circa 1760. The rifle with blued, octagonal barrel and seven-groove rifled bore in 15 mm calibre. Dovetailed, gilt sights. Gold-inlaid inscription "Johann Haetischweiler in Carlsbad" on the breech, in front of that the Electoral Saxon coat of arms in a sun burst inlaid in gold and silver. Finely engraved flintlock with decorative hunting theme (cockjaw a replacement). Gold-lined vent hole. Sparsely carved full stock made from beautifully grained walnut. Furniture in lavish relief and made from fire-gilt brass showing figurative depictions of antique deities and hunting scenes. The ramrod with gilt brass tip a replacement. Length 121.5 cm.
A pair of long pistols, two stage barrels, octagonal breech section, then round with smooth bores in 14 mm calibre. Barrels, locks, stock and fittings decorated en suite with the rifle. Replaced ramrods. Length 47 cm each.
A deluxe set of highest quality. The bluing, the signatures as well as the inlaid coats of arms have presumably been added during the 20th century.
