An officer's lion head sabre.

Nickel-plated pipe-backed blade. Sculpted brass knuckle-bow hilt with the pommel in the shape of a lion's head. Sharkskin grip with silver wire winding. Attached sword-knot. The scabbard also nickel-plated with brass suspension rings. Inscribed "Karl v. Schmidt Oberst HusRgt Nr. 16" (Karl v. Schmidt Col. 16th Hussar Regiment) near the locket. Non-associated Bavarian suspension straps. Length 103 cm.
