A Southern German or Italian halberd

circa 1570
Slender thrusting spike of square section, swept 'fishtail' blade with reinforced points and a cusped back-edge. Rear fluke drawn-out to form a trident. Blade and fluke with remains of engraved tendril decoration. Tapered socket with two short straps. Replaced hardwood shaft with red and yellow fringe finery. Length 205 cm.
