A German gorget and spaulders

Nuremberg, circa 1580
Hinged gorget of two lames, turned and roped neck. The lower edges of the ridged six-lame spaulders also turned and roped. The front side of the gorget with armourer's mark and Nuremberg inspection mark. Blackened surface with slight hammer stroke. Leathers added. Width of the gorget 29 cm, length of the shoulder fefences 33 cm.
An armour piece of high quality.
