A rare reinforcing buffe for the tourney

German or Spanish, circa 1540 - 1550
Robust one-piece construction, formed with a blunt prow and medial ridge, the base flanged outwards, asymmetrical sides, the right slotted for the visor lifting-peg, the left drawn up and shaped for fitting over the visor pivot and pierced with small holes for the attaching straps. Height 20 cm.
