A suit of armour for a man-at-arms
South German, circa 1600 Comprising a burgonet forged in one piece with riveted pointed peak, hinged cheek-pieces, and riveted neck guard. The right cheek-piece bears the arsenal number "A 148". The comb has two small holes. Hinged gorget with attached shoulder defences of six lames. Ridged breast-plate with a shallow central point, one lame shirt, and tassets of six lames moving on sliding rivets. Breast and back plates have neck and arm cutouts with turned edges (belonging together?). Old leathering, defective in some places. Some rivets renewed. Surfaces are lightly pitted.
