An iron banded helmet

Central Europe, Migration period, 5th/6th centuries A.D.
The skull worked in three pieces with rivets arranged in groups of three. Damaged area on the crowns apex about 2 cm wide. A circa 5 cm broad riveted band runs around the lower rim. Holes on the sides for the missing chin straps or cheek-pieces. Cleaned excavation find in very good condition. Two small restorations to the edge at the side. Height 16.5 cm.
