A Moro helmet

Philippines, 19th century
A helmet cast in one piece with a segmented, grooved skull rising to a point. The lower part surrounded with raised arabesque-shaped decoration. The brim rising to a point both front and rear with a reinforced corded rim and two fastening rings underneath for the chinstraps. Three plume sockets (somewhat damaged) riveted at the nape of the neck. The skull with a few longitudinal holes (casting flaws). Height 30 cm.
Rare helmet for a Moro warrior, modelled after the style of morions of the Spanish conquerors.
