A bronze vase

Japan, Meiji period
Bronze vase in akagane and nigurome, the body divided into six sections decorated with a nigurome inlaid rain dragon in relief on engraved wave design. The neck of the vase with a flared lip adorned by a band of gilt bamboo branches in relief. Surmounting the slightly flared base another ornamental band with gilt and silvered peony inlays on scrolling karakusa, either band on plain nanako ground. The bottom of the vase with gold-lined mark of the Nogawa manufactory(?) in archaic characters. Height 38 cm.
