A standing samurai

Japan, Meiji period
Delicately engraved and embossed bronze with fine gilding. The face and hands of the samurai in akagane, the body in nigurome. Very expressive facial features with silver and shakudo inlaid eyes and traditional, finely engraved hairstyle with motodori. Dressed in a civilian's kamishimo decorated with the Tsuru mon of the Tozawa clan and han-bakama embellished with the Kikiyo mon of the Akeshi clan, two swords protruding from the obi, in one hand a suyari (slightly bent). Signed "Kiyumitsu" in gilt cartouche on the side of the han-bakama. On wooden base with openwork peony design (slightly damaged). Height of the figure 49 cm, total height 67 cm.
