A Celtic-Roman sword,
Central Europe, 1st century B.C. -1st century A.D. Wavily bent iron blade, the point with a restored break. Slender, slightly tapered tang. The forte covered by a preserved fragment of the scabbard made from sheet bronze, the obverse showing embossed décor in Roman style. A tondo showing an emporers head(?) and two other heads beneath a depiction of a mounted warrior with circular shield and another figure of a nude male figure (a wounded warrior?). The locket depicts an eagle. Length 78.5 cm. Rare Celtic weapon from the transitional period, already showing stylistical elements from the Roman conquerors.
