A Renaissance style hunting horn

German(?), 2nd half of 19th century
Horn of embossed silver, made in two pieces. Profusely embellished with hunting scenes and birds amid scrolling foliage. The bottom bearing a coat of arms supported by two lions, the top inscribed with the date "1651". Terminating into a three-dimensional hound's head mouthpiece. Several illegible punch marks. Length 75.5 cm, weight ca. 960 g.
