A rare heavy, late Gothic crossbow

Southern German, circa 1500
Heavy iron prod with twisted bowstring. Cord anchor with an iron stirrup. Slender walnut tiller with decorative bone inlays. Bone-covered bolt groove. Bone nut, reinforced with iron and fastened with cord. Sturdy iron lugs for the cranequin. Lightly curved iron lever trigger. Length 98 cm.
Rare type of crossbow from the transition period between horn and steel bows.
