an embroidered back part of a Gothic cope
Hand-embroidered portrayal of Mary, Mother of God, at Christ's tomb, at her side a praying angel, at her feet a kneeling bishop with escutcheon. The cope partially restored and resting on a background of red velvet, framed. On the verso inventory label "Privatfond I.K.K. Majestät" and "Se. K.K.H. Kronprinz Rudolf". Frame dimensions 53.5 x 53.5 cm.
Very interesting object from the art collection of the Austrian heir apparent.
