A silver-mounted Ottoman yatagan

dated 1808
Straight single-edged blade with silver-inlaid script on both sides. The obverse side bears the maker's signature, the date "1223" (= 1808), and the tughra for Sultan Mustafa IV. Cut coral is set into the silver, filigree blade ferrule, and the grip is embossed with floral designs. Wooden scabbard covered with shagreen leather sewn with wire, and with beautiful silver mountings embossed with floral designs in relief. Length 74 cm.
