A German flintlock rifle,
circa 1730. Slightly swamped octagonal barrel with seven-groove rifling in 15.5 mm calibre and a dovetailed brass front sight (rear sight missing). Silver vine ornamentation and a brass squirrel inlaid on the breech and muzzle. Lightly engraved flintlock with a cambered lockplate. Walnut full stock with a carved patch box and a horn nose cap. Brass furniture beautifully engraved with hunting and ornamental designs. (Trigger guard soldered, butt plate cracked). Later trigger guard. Length 106 cm.
