A flintlock shotgun alla Romana,
Toscana, circa 1740. Two-stage Damascus barrel, octagonal then round after a cut baluster. Smooth bore in 15 mm calibre. Silver front sight. Cut and engraved flintlock with the signature, "P.B." on the inside. (Presumably Pietro Burrone, Castelnuovo Beradenga near Siena). Beautiful elm rootwood, half stock in the Catalan style carved (in one piece) with the trigger guard. Silver furniture with fine floral engraving and an openwork barrel band. Wooden ramrod with a horn tip and an iron bullet puller. Length 145 cm. Elegant shotgun in beautiful condition.
