Fragments of an enamelled French gabled casket
presumably Limoges, 12th/13th century Side plate and a lid panel from a fire-gilded bronze gabled casket. On the front religious scenes made of multi-coloured cloisonné-enamel inlays. Each bears copper heads in half relief. A cherub is shown stopping an execution in the right corner of the lid piece. The sidepiece has a depiction of the Evangelist Luke at a writing desk with angels above him. The enamel inlays are incomplete in places. Dimensions 7 x 15 and 16.5 x 8.5 cm.
