A long miquelet flintlock shotgun,
Giacomo Luciani in Rome, circa 1700. Two-stage barrel, octagonal then round with a slightly swamped muzzle. Smooth bore in 16 mm calibre. Silver front sight. Seven stars and two marks stamped on the chamber. Extremely high quality miquelet lock, finely engraved and cut with vine and grotesque ornamentation. Signed "Giacomo Lociani" on the inside. Catalan half stock of beautifully figured thuja root wood. The forearm has a repaired break. Engraved silver furniture. The escutcheon bears a crowned coat of arms. Wooden ramrod with a horn tip and an iron ball puller. Length 143 cm. Giacomo Luciani known in Rome from 1698-1701, worked with Bernardo Carli.
