A gilded silver and niello German mounting

German, 12th and 13th century
Slightly cambered with fine niello and engraved dragon on a gilded stippled background on the obverse side. Hole on top with green encrustation on both sides. Fine condition. Diameter 4.1 cm
Presumably a belt or icon mounting, see Ornamenta Ecclesiae, Kunst und Künstler der Romanik, catalogue of the exhibition in the Schnütgen Museum in Cologne, 1985.
