A chiselled Persian pesh kabz

circa 1800
Slightly curved T-back blade of wootz Damascus with a central rib and reinforced edge and back. Chiselled floral decoration on both sides of the ferrule as well as at the base of the blade with vase-shaped gold inlays. Wootz Damascus grip frame (exterior somewhat pitted) cut en suite with riveted (minimal restoration) walrus ivory grip scales. Wooden scabbard covered with suede and with two embossed silver mountings. Length 37.5 cm.
