A chiselled Persian pesh kabz

circa 1800
Typically curved T-back blade of fine layers of wootz Damascus with fine thread grooves on the back. Chiselled wormwood leaf decoration on both sides of the ricasso with a ferrule cut with floral designs. The wootz Damascus grip frame is surrounded with decorative cut inscription cartouches. Walrus ivory grip scales with minimal restoration. Wooden scabbard covered with shagreen leather and a silver chape embossed with decorative floral designs. Length 42 cm.
