A Saxon wheellock rifle,
dated 1590. Typical two-stage barrel, octagonal breech section then round after a serrated separation, with smooth bore in 16 mm calibre. There is a monogram "G O" (Stöckel No. 2687) stamped in front of the folding rear sight, along with the date "1*5*9*0". Iron wheellock with another inscription "G O" on the lockplate. (Parts of the mechanism are replaced. Safety lever missing.). Sanded walnut stock with typical engraved and blackened bone inlays. Worm damage to the stock in the buttstock and area of the lock. Some bone inlays renewed. Wood reworked in the lock inlet. Ramrod, trigger guard and patch box lid are replacements. Length 112 cm.
