A German wheellock rifle,

dated 1652. Lightly swamped octagonal barrel with an eight groove rifled bore in 13.5 mm calibre. Dovetailed front sight and cut folding rear sight. The marks "TW" and the date "1652" are stamped on the breech. Cut wheellock with a half-interior wheel. Hair trigger. Dark walnut full stock with a patch box. Engraved bone nose cap and ramrod thimbles. The butt stock and lock area have engraved and blackened mother-of-pearl inlays with a floral design (minimal defects). Iron trigger guard. Replacement wooden ramrod. Length 110.5 cm.
