A wheellock pistol,

Johann Stifter, Prague, circa 1660. Long octagonal smooth bore barrel in 12 mm calibre with brass front sight. The Nuremberg marks are stamped on the breech with the engraved signature, "Johann Stiffter". Iron wheellock with an exterior, engraved wheel. Walnut full stock lavishly inlaid with engraved and blackened bone as well as with narrow horn strips. There are martial trophies on both sides of the butt stock, and a lion and ball opposite the lock. The escutcheon shows a male portrait. The butt plate bears a noble's coat of arms. There is a laurel wreath with crossed herald's trumpets on the bottom of the stock, inscribed "I.G.M.P.". Replacement ramrod. A few small inlays have been restored. Length 62 cm.
Johann Stifter, Prague, known 1648 - 77, became master in 1649, and in 1663 also supplied the Elector of Saxony.
