A South German wheellock rifle,
dated 1720. Octagonal barrel lightly swamped at the muzzle with a seven groove rifled bore in 13.5 mm calibre. Dovetailed front sight and adjustable iron rear sight. The mark "ZG"(?) is stamped above the breech along with the date "1720". The wheellock is cut with hunting designs in relief. Double set trigger and folding miniature aperture sight. Carved walnut full stock with beaded staghorn inlays on the nosepiece, cheek piece, ramrod, and patch box. Brass trigger guard and ramrod thimbles. Length 107.5 cm.
