A wheellock rifle,
Johann Balthasar Zellner, Zell am Wallersee, circa 1720. Octagonal barrel with seven groove rifling in 15 mm calibre, lightly swamped at the muzzle. Dovetailed front sight and folding, two-piece, cut rear sight. "BALTHASAR ZELNER" (worn) is engraved on the chamber accompanied by a brass filled mark (Stöckel No. 8595). Wheellock with flash guard and engraved hunting scenes (somewhat worn). Double set trigger and interior wheel. Walnut full stock with decorative carving, horn nose cap, and horn patch box. Brass furniture with baroque engraving. Ramrod. One lock screw and the trigger guard screws are replacements. Minor restoration on the wood stock. Length 104 cm. Johann Balthasar Zellner (1659 - 1730) Zell am Wallersee, took over the workshop in Zell am See in 1694.
