A cased pair of percussion pistols,
Sauer & Sohn, Suhl, ca. 1840. Two-stage barrels, octagonal then multi-faceted, slightly swamped, with eight-groove rifled bores in calibre 12 mm and patent breechblocks. Dovetailed front sights and adjustable rear sights. Barrel tops with (darkened) silver inlay "I.P. SAUER UND SOHN A SUHL". Colour case hardened back action locks with floral engravings, single set trigger and foldable buffers. Carved walnut stocks with checkered grips and engraved nickel silver furniture. Length of each 38 cm. In a wooden (somewhat worn) case inlaid in felt with almost complete accessories. Lid with handle, key missing. Case dimensions: 47 x 32.5 x 8.5 cm. Sauer & Sohn, Suhl ca. 1840 till now, founded ca. 1840 by Johann Sauer and his son Lorenz.
