A self-loading rifle Holek,

calibre 8 x 57, no. 259. Matching numbers. Mirrorlike bore, barrel length 51 cm. Proof-marked 1943. Suhl frog mount. Is loaded by pulling back finger hook attached to bottom gear. On the receiver marked "Original HOLEK Automat". Three-shot plug-in magazine with matching numbers. Complete original high gloss finish. Lock etched grey. Matching-numbered walnut stock with German cheekpiece, pistol grip, checkering and strap. Almost new overall condition. Very rare.
Ewald Holek, Czech gunsmith who worked in various arms factories, appeared on the scene in the late 20s with semi-automatic weapons like the ZH 29. Around 1939 he founded his own enterprise which he ran up to 1948 focusing on diverse field guns. Lit. see Lugs, Handfeuerwaffen, pp. 567 f.
In its 51st auction of October 2006 Hermann Historica already offered a Holek Rifle, serial no. 217 (lot no. 107). That rifle was loaded by way of pulling the rifle strap.
