A Frankish/Nordic sword,
9th century. Heavy double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section with remnants of fire patina, the lower half possibly restored. The short, slightly ridged quillons with silver-inlaid dot and diamond decoration, the conically tapering pommel with grooves on the sides and decorated en suite. Cleaned excavation discovery. Length 95 cm.
