An Avar sword,
Hungary, 9th/10th century. Heavy slender single-edged blade with double-edged point and a sleeve fitted over the base. Short quillons (damaged) with large finials notched in cross lines. Slightly shortened tang with one preserved grip rivet. Cleaned excavation discovery. Length 115 cm.
