A battle sword,
German, ca. 1400. Heavy blade (shortened in the past ?) with fullers on both sides of the upper half, the lower third slightly notched, a simple barred cross stamped in one side. Straight quillons of square section, the two wood grip scales riveted to the tang, the cord winding and leather grip cover missing. There is a glued-on inventory label for the Dorgerloh Foundation. Octagonal disk pommel with center depressions on both sides. August Dorgerloh (1819-1901), was a famous art collector of the period from Gablauken in East Prussia. He left his collection to the Königsburg Academy of Art.
