A Cologne flintlock pistol

around 1810
Swamped barrel with microgroove rifling in 13 mm calibre with hook breech and dovetailed iron sights. Gold bushed vent and bands at the muzzle and tang. There is a gold inlaid oval mark "IIC" and an engraved "2" over the breech. Iron flintlock with single set trigger and frizzen with roller. Signed "A Cologne" in front of the cock. Half stock with beautifully figured birch root-wood with cut iron furniture. The golden escutcheon has an alloy "EM" in script. Length: 36 cm.
