A pair of silver-mounted flintlock pistols

Joseph Frey, Munich, dated 1759
Smooth Spanish barrels in 13 mm calibre with mounted rear sights and silver front sights. Punched decoration over the chamber with silver filled marks and the inscription, "Es quibel En Madrit Anno 1759" on each. Cut iron flintlocks (one cock screw defective), with the signature "Joseph Frey" on each in front of the cock. Carved walnut full stocks with horn nose and silver furniture with rococo relief ornamentation. Wood ramrods, with (replacement) horn jags. Length of each: 38 cm.
Joseph Christoph Frey, Munich 1685-1782. Active since 1719, becoming court gunsmith in 1746.
