A four-barreled flintlock turn-barrel pistol

Johann Adolf Grecke, St. Petersburg around 1780
Octagonal barrels, two smooth bore and two with seven groove rifling, in 12 mm caliber, mounted side by side. The bronze mid ribs have a dovetailed front sight and are signed "J.A. Grecke St. Petersburg" on one side. Iron, floral cut, flintlock with cock safety and four frizzens. Walnut stock with floral carving with a (replacement) axis pin breech plate in the butt. Very finely worked bronze furniture with remnants of gilding. The pommel cap has a bust of Mars in relief. The divided trigger guard has the latch for the turning mechanism. Iron ramrod with a brass cap. Some corrosion on barrels and locks. Stock has been restored, one cock and tang screw replaced. Length: 48 cm.
Johann Adolf Grecke, 1755-1790, was active in St. Petersburg after 1779, and among others worked for the Czarina Catherine the Great.
