A model 1849 helmet
for Dragoon Officers, Hanover Leather scull, gilded brass mountings, convex chin strap on screws. Cockade and lining are missing. Spike mounted on a cross-shaped plate. Contrary to regulations, the skull of the helmet was not made from blackened iron plate. The helmet comes from the possessions of Col. Ludwig von Krauchenberg (1788-1857), last commander of the Cambridge Dragoons. Rare helmet preserved in beautiful condition.
